Meet the Director

Karyn Winters

Karyn Winters (nee Rittenhouse) was born and raised in Genesee County and is a 2003 graduate of Pavilion Central School. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree (cum laude) in secondary social studies education from Siena College in 2007 and earned her master's degree (cum laude) in world history from SUNY Brockport in 2009.

Karyn served as a long-term substitute teacher in several local school districts before pursing a career in non-for-profit.  She was a special events coordinator for the National Kidney Foundation and the Greater Rochester American Red Cross.  Karyn also served as program manager for 4 years at Junior Achievement of Central Upstate New York, a national non-profit organization that teaches students in grades K-12 financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship skills.

Karyn has served as BEA Director since March 2017 and is excited to introduce high-growth/high-demand careers and industries to Genesee County students.  She lives in Livingston County with her husband and daughter.
